How we got here

2018

The frustration

Mara Ellison was running operations for a regional distributor when she realized the real bottleneck wasn't data—it was visibility. She had access to shipment events, warehouse systems, and carrier status, but no way to see the operational picture in real time. By the time reports told her there was a problem, the problem had already cascaded.

2019

The idea

She started working with Daniel Whitmore and Priya Sethi to build a prototype: a system that would ingest operational events in real time, normalize messy data, and surface insights instantly. Not dashboards for analysts. Tools for people making live decisions.

2021

Launch

HarborMetric shipped to its first three customers: a cold-chain distributor, a regional 3PL, and a retail fulfillment network. All three cut their exception resolution time by more than half.

Today

Growth

HarborMetric now serves over 30 logistics organizations, from single-site operations to multi-site networks with thousands of shipments daily. Our platform handles millions of events per day and has become the operational nerve center for our customers.
